During school holidays the pub will be open all day with a reduced afternoon
menu available ***
The
Paul Stubbs retired as
the landlord in April 2006. His daughters Clair and Gail and his son-in-law
Stuart are continuing the family business. All three have gained immense experience
whilst working as partners with Paul and are determined to carry on the good
work.
Luckily for us Paul is
continuing to dive and is passing on his Scallop and Diving knowledge to Stu
and Gail which will enable us to continue this family tradition of catching and
dressing all our own scallops.
In addition, local fishermen
work off the beach in front of the pub and out of Dartmouth to deliver a
selection of fish which is then prepared on the premises. Look out for a small
fishing boat in the bay; it may be catching your supper.
A local crabber, ‘Gray Lynn’, drops crabs to
the back door to be cooked and dressed immediately. All our crab is hand picked
by us.
‘
Fish Pies are hugely
popular and are all made on the premises using our own home made sauce.
Locally reared steaks are
delivered by ‘Durrant's’, a local butcher.
Pork & apple and beef
burgers are collected from ‘Hannaford's’ the village butchers where they are made.
We
sell ‘Devonia Spring Water’ which is bottled just a few miles away.
‘
Most people are surprised
and delighted by the taste of the local ‘Sharpham
Wine’, which is produced on the banks of the river Dart.
Tantalising traditional desserts are provided by ‘Cottage
Kitchens’, a small company in Kingsbridge.
‘Salcombe Dairy’ ice creams are a real favorite.
Last but not least why
not try our local brew, ‘Otter Ale’?
We recycle all of our glass,
cardboard, tins and recyclable plastics and source our produce locally or from
environmentally sustainable stocks wherever possible.
